UFU Library was established in 1976 by the merging of eight isolated local colleges’ collections, which merger was completed in 1978. In 1989, UFU Library System (SISBI/UFU) was created, centralizing all acquisition activities and technical processing. SISBI/UFU is composed of eight libraries, of which 6 are university libraries, one is Basic Education Library and one is specialized. 

Mission 
SISBI/UFU mission is to provide access to information through products, services and the dissemination of UFU intellectual production, contributing to the development of teaching, research and extension activities, keeping up with technological, cultural and social changes. 

Vision
SISBI/UFU aims to be a regional, national and international reference in information and knowledge management, with an excellence standard in meeting UFU needs, enhancing human relations and promoting sustainable and technological development.
